Disability Information Scotland
"What can I say about Jenny Simpson and her Team? They are amazing! I first engaged with Jenny over 10 years ago in my past life as Manager of Haddington Citizens Advice Bureau so they were my ‘go to’ audit team when I became Chair of the Board of Disability Information Scotland in 2015. DIS was a small charity which was going through transitions of personnel, name and governance so the W & B team’s in depth understanding of the charity sector and understanding of the wider issues for charities, particularly in relation to insecurity of funding, was invaluable.
Operationally, according to our Manager, the team are “superb” and “make the job easier”. He didn’t have any experience of charity financial management when he started but has benefitted enormously from the team’s help and is now a Trustee of another charity ensuring the good governance message and knowledge gained through their support is passed on.
One of the things I continue to value and benefit from is their Charity Trustee Training Workshops where they bring together specialists to update W & B’s charity clients whether on any changes in legislation or just to refresh memories on how SORPS works! It is so important for charity governance that Trustees understand the financial accounts and Jenny has taught me well! The networking opportunity is also excellent and there’s always a lovely welcome!"
