About the Job

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Internal Audit department and we seek to recruit an experienced Senior Internal Audit Manager.  The role will involve managing and planning the work on internal audits of a wide range of clients, including public, education, charity and private sectors.  Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will manage a high-profile client portfolio, support the designated director/partners and provide strong management and guidance across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of client portfolio, liaising directly with all clients and reporting to director/partner
  • Reviewing audit assignments and providing technical guidance to clients and staff as necessary
  • Supervising and guiding audit assignments as necessary
  • Managing, coaching and training of internal audit staff, including support for trainees and newly qualified staff
  • Aiding development of department through production of tender documents and other business development tasks
  • Management of the department team, and responsible for department administration
  • Any other appropriate tasks, as directed

Successful candidates must be able to work within a professional office environment across our client base.  You must hold appropriate professional qualifications and must have a proven track record in audit and staff management.  A relationship builder, you will possess excellent communication skills and will build relationships confidently and professionally with clients, contacts, stakeholders and teams across all sectors. You will play a key role in the management of a client portfolio and the department and will be expected to offer creative ideas and solutions on a regular basis. You will play a key support role to the director/partner(s).

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Professional qualification, eg, CIA, CMIIA, CA, ACA, ACCA
  • Significant internal audit experience
  • Appropriate awareness of Internal Audit Standards
  • Experience in business development activity
  • Confident and professional communication skills (internal and external)
  • Proven people management skills

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Can offer creative solutions
  • Internal audit experience
  • Further education and housing sector experience

Other Information

Based:  The role will be based at the office location; 50% hybrid
Hours:  Working pattern clarified by contract
